Parkview Health is offering a new clinic to help treat people with lingering symptoms of COVID-19.

The Post-COVID Clinic will be led by the Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) Neurology team and provide care and support for so-called COVID-19 “long-haulers.”

Dr. Fen Lei Chang is the medical director for Parkview Neurosciences and the director of the new clinic. He said post-COVID symptoms - such as brain fog, fatigue or loss of taste or smell - are “absolutely real and devastating.”

“This is a new disease, so there’s a lot we’re still learning together," Chang said. "We don’t have any evidence-based treatment for post-COVID.”

Chang said the goal of the clinic will be to work with patients and listen to their concerns to create priorities for each individual and learn how to treat symptoms.

These “long-haul” symptoms affect a wide range of people who have previously contracted COVID-19, but seem to be more prevalent in older age groups and women.

Patients must be 18 or older, have a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis and have lingering symptoms at least four weeks post-diagnosis. They can get a referral to the clinic through their PPG primary care doctor.

On Wednesday, Parkview officials announced a collaboration with the IU School of Medicine to research long-term COVID symptoms through the clinic and the Parkview Mirro Center for Research and Innovation.
