Alison Gerardot and Rachel Blackman are gathering data from women throughout the community which will be published in a report by early 2020.

The Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne is teaming up with Purdue Fort Wayne's Community Research Institute on a project to establish a Women's Fund.

The last report on the status of women locally was released in 1974 to guide the development of what became the Fort Wayne Women's Bureau.

Earlier this month, WBOI's Julia Meek sat down with Alison Gerardot, the Foundation's Vice President of Philanthropic Services and Rachel Blackman, director of the Community Research Institute, to talk about the scope of the project, its time frame, and the impact it could make on the community.

A Fort Wayne native, Julia is a radio host, graphic artist, and community volunteer, who has contributed to NIPR both on- and off-air for forty years. Besides being WBOI's arts & culture reporter, she currently co-produces and hosts Folktales and Meet the Music.
