WBOI aired a Trap Door showcase for the first time one year ago on June 27. This week on WBOI Presents, we are listening back to the Trap Door's May Story Showcase at Welch's Ale House.
The last Trap Door show for the spring featured an all female lineup with two veterans of the Trap Door stage, as well as two newcomers. Amber Kessler Freer was one of the storytellers at The Trap Door: Comes Out last year, and this time around she told a story about growing up in Russia.
April Gerard is a local writer and has shared her story with local audiences before. While she has spoken at TEDxFortWayne, she is a Trap Door newcomer and she shared a story about her personal experience with homelessness with the Trap Door audience.
Sarah Ellsworth-Hoffman is a veteran of the Trap Door stage, as well as WBOI's Folk Tales and Meet The Music. Sarah told a tale of leaving the midwest for a summer semester and landing on the Irish Jersey Shore.
The final storyteller of the Trap Door's May Story Showcase needs no introduction for WBOI listeners. Programming Director Katy Anderson ended the spring showcase season with a story about family and sisterhood.
