Jury trials in Allen County Superior Court have been suspended at least until Jan. 11 due to the ongoing community spread of COVID-19.
Allen County remains in the red for spread of the illness, with a 7-day positivity rate of 18.5 percent.
On Tuesday, county health officials reported an additional eight deaths and 272 positive tests for COVID-19. That brings the totals to 359 dead and 22,397 known infections, according to the Allen County Health Department.
Elsewhere in northeast Indiana, Whitley County remains the county with the highest 7-day positivity rate. It continues to climb, and is now up to 24.9 percent. There are 1,804 known COVID-19 infections and 17 people have died in Whitley County since the beginning of the pandemic.
Deaths were reported Tuesday in Adams, Allen, Huntington and Kosciusko counties, according to public health statistics.
In northeast Indiana, 14.8 percent of ICU beds are available and 380 residents are hospitalized with the illness.
Northeast Indiana totals for Tuesday, Dec. 8:
- Adams County: 30 new cases for 2,123 total. One death for 27 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.5%.
- Allen County: 272 new cases for 22,397 total. Eight deaths for 359 total. 7-day positivity rate at 18.5%.
- DeKalb County: 40 new cases for 2,354 total. No new deaths for 42 total. 7-day positivity rate at 19.3%.
- Huntington County: 28 new cases for 1,700 total. One new death for 13 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.7%.
- Kosciusko County: 125 new cases for 5,553 total. One new death for 52 total. 7-day positivity rate at 14%.
- LaGrange County: 13 new cases for 1,705 total. No new deaths for 36 total. 7-day positivity rate at 19%.
- Noble County: 38 new cases for 3,181 total. No new deaths for 50 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.2%.
- Steuben County: 39 new cases for 1,874 total. No new deaths for 16 total. 7-day positivity rate 17.4%.
- Wabash County: 27 new cases for 2,122 total. No new deaths for 27 total. 7-day positivity rate 12.6%.
- Wells County: 18 new cases for 1,579 total. No new deaths for 39 total. 7-day positivity rate at 15.9%.
- Whitley County: 36 new cases for 1,804 total. No new deaths for 17 total. 7-day positivity rate at 24.9%.
