Sept. 20: Area COVID Numbers Improve Slightly Over Weekend

The area’s 7-day positivity rate for COVID-19 spread dropped below 11 percent over the weekend, for the first time in roughly a month.

 

There were 214 new cases reported in northeast Indiana over the weekend, and no new deaths, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

 

Statewide, just over 1,900 new cases were reported over the weekend, down from last weekend’s total by about 400 cases. 

 

Northeast Indiana’s ICU capacity is back up to 16.3 percent, having hit a low of 7.5 percent on Sept. 9.

 

There are 245 area residents hospitalized with the virus, 10 percent of the state’s total of 2,432.

 

Allen County reported 121 new cases from the weekend, and a 7-day positivity rate of 10.9 percent.

 

More than 56 percent of the county’s eligible population is fully-vaccinated. More than 20,000 additional Hoosiers joined the ranks of the fully vaccinated over the weekend, according to Monday’s report.

 

Northeast Indiana totals:

  • Adams County: 8 new cases for 4,417 total. No new deaths for 65 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.5%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 38%.
  • Allen County: 121 new cases for 53,252 total. No new deaths for 749 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 56.1%.
  • DeKalb County: 6 new cases for 5,685 total. No new deaths for 91 total. 7-day positivity rate at 14.1%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 43%.
  • Huntington County: 4 new cases for 5,961 total. No new deaths for 92 total. 7-day positivity rate at 8.4%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 47.6%.
  • Kosciusko County: 8 new cases for 11,310 total. No new deaths for 135 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.6%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 42.6%.
  • LaGrange County: 3 new cases for 3,187 total. No new deaths for 75 total. 7-day positivity rate at 16%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 25.3%.
  • Noble County: 17 new cases for 7,369 total. No new deaths for 101 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.3%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 41.6%.
  • Steuben County: 20 new cases for 4,928 total. No new deaths for 67%. 7-day positivity rate at 8.8%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 46.7%.
  • Wabash County: 9 new cases for 4,805 total. No new deaths for 92 total. 7-day positivity rate at 8.3%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 42%.
  • Wells County: 4 new cases for 3,816 total. No new deaths for 83 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.8%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 43.9%.
  • Whitley County: 14 new cases for 5,209 total. No new deaths for 51 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.4%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 46.2%.
