Nov. 16: COVID positivity, hospitalizations inching upward. Again.

Ten new COVID-19 deaths were reported in northeast Indiana on Tuesday, and the 7-day positivity rate is up to 11.6 percent. 

According to the Indiana Department of Health, the area’s case numbers, tests administered, and 7-day positivity rate have been a slight march upward since the end of October.

Five new deaths were reported in Allen County, as well as 231 new cases. Two deaths were reported in Steuben County, and single deaths in DeKalb, Huntington, and Kosciusko counties.

There are 226 area residents hospitalized due to the illness, a number at its highest since early October.

Only Adams and Wells counties reported less than double-digit case increases on Tuesday.

Statewide, the vaccination rate for eligible Hoosiers is at 52.4 percent. Northeast Indiana remains among the worst areas in the state for vaccine participation.

There were 42 new deaths reported statewide, and the state’s 7-day positivity rate is just over 9 percent.

Nearly 1,470 Hoosiers are hospitalized with the virus, at its highest rate since mid-October.

 

Totals for Nov. 16:

  • Adams County: 7 new cases for 5,148 total. No new deaths for 79 total. 7-day positivity rate 8%. Percentage of eligible population fully vaccinated 34.5%.
  • Allen County: 231 new cases for 62,055 total. 5 new deaths for 846 total. 7-day positivity rate 10.8%. Percentage of eligible population fully vaccinated 52.5%.
  • DeKalb County: 32 new cases for 6,999 total. 1 new death for 103 total. 7-day positivity rate 20.3%. Percentage of eligible population fully vaccinated 41%.
  • Huntington County: 43 new cases for 6,959 total. 1 new death for 103 total. 7-day positivity rate 10.2% Percentage of eligible population fully vaccinated 45.3%.
  • Kosciusko County: 28 new cases for 13,293 total. 1 new death for 155 total. 7-day positivity rate 11.7%. Percentage of eligible population fully vaccinated 40.8%.
  • LaGrange County: 15 new cases for 3,950 total. No new death for 88 total. 7-day positivity rate 22%. Percentage of eligible population fully vaccinated 22.9%.
  • Noble County: 22 new cases for 8,591 total. No new deaths for 114 total. 7-day positivity rate 13.8%. Percentage of eligible population fully vaccinated 39.6%.
  • Steuben County: 25 new cases for 6,127 total. 2 new deaths for 83 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.2%. Percentage of eligible population fully vaccinated 44.7%.
  • Wabash County: 27 new cases for 5,741 total. No new deaths for 107 total. 7-day positivity rate at 14.7%. Percentage of eligible population fully vaccinated 40.6%.
  • Wells County: 3 new cases for 4,476 total. No new deaths for 92 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.1%. Percentage of eligible population fully vaccinated 41.2%.
  • Whitley County: 17 new cases for 6,071 total. No new deaths for 59 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.1%. Percentage of eligible population fully vaccinated 44.2%.
