The Indiana Department of Health has not reported any cases of the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 as of Thursday.
The highly-infectious Delta variant still makes up about 99 percent of all the cases reported in the state in recent days.
The Delta variant has caused spikes in new cases, hospitalizations, and deaths since it hit the U.S. with full force earlier this year.
Indiana’s COVID hospitalizations stand about 500 individuals below its peak in early December 2020.
There are currently 3,029 Hoosiers hospitalized with the virus, and there were 55 new deaths reported on Thursday. The state’s ICU capacity has dipped below 13.5 percent.
A dozen of those deaths occurred in northeast Indiana, including seven in Allen County.
There are 399 area residents hospitalized due to COVID.
There were 794 new cases of the virus reported on Thursday. Additional deaths were reported in Adams, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble and Wabash counties.
