Parkview Health has launched a survey to better understand the needs of the various communities it serves.

The survey is required every three years by the IRS as a result of the Affordable Care Act, because healthcare needs in communities change gradually over time.

Parkview uses the survey in its strategic planning process and to develop community health improvement plans.

Dr. Sarah Giaquinta is the senior vice president of community and equity at Parkview.

She said they don’t expect to see big shifts in needs from what they saw three years ago, but they are working to reach members of the community they may not have heard from before.

“I do wonder if having more input and input from different communities we weren’t able to reach before will give us a different lens of needs that maybe they see that we weren’t aware of,” Giaquinta said.

Giaquinta said Parkview is using several methods to reach the community, including random mailings and in-person surveys at grocery stores. The survey is also available online for anyone who wants to take it and takes about five to 10 minutes to complete.
