Two veterans from around Indiana overlook the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. during their Honor Flight trip on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

Honor Flight Northeast Indiana received a $160,000 donation to cover the entire cost of its September 14 flight.

The donation came from retired Fort Wayne Community Schools teacher Toni Murray, who says she wishes to “honor the veterans who have bravely supported and fought for our country.”

Honor Flight is a nonprofit organization that flies veterans to Washington D.C., at no cost to the veterans, to see the memorials commemorating their service

The September 14 flight currently has a total of 85 veterans, from the Korean War, the Cold War, the Vietnam War and one Post-World War II veteran.
