Although International Harvester's last Scout rolled off the assembly line here in Fort Wayne in the early 1980's, its memory is still alive and well, and ready to be celebrated at the inaugural Harvester Homecoming this Saturday.
From its early days in farm equipment production, through its decades of world class truck manufacturing, IH, which it became known as to employees and consumers alike, was famous for its innovative designs in every area of transporation.
Being part of the Harvester family was a point of pride to many generations of area residents, which makes this homecoming celebration all the more significant.
Last week WBOI's Julia Meek sat down with project spear headers Ryan DuVall and Jerry Bettley to discuss the Scout's lasting appeal, the company's rich history and the impact both continue to make on the community.
