LaGrange County Mandates Mask Usage

Screenshot of Indiana Department of Health

LaGrange County began mandating mask usage in the wake of rising positive COVID-19 cases in the county, the first county in northeast Indiana to make masks a requirement.

Announced Monday, officials cite mask wearing, hand washing and social distancing as the best defense against the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

The masks will be required in any indoor area open to the public, including public transportation and van transports. They will also be required in any outdoor area or private area where a six-foot distance cannot be maintained from individuals outside of one’s household.

LaGrange County now has 277 positive cases, double the number from one week ago. Two LaGrange County residents have died.

Allen County has 87 deaths from COVID-19 and 2,224 positive cases.
