Lilly Endowment Gives Grants to Two Northeast Indiana Schools

MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY

Two northeast Indiana universities each received a $1 million grant from Lilly Endowment as part of its Charting the Future of Indiana’s Colleges and Universities initiative.

Manchester University will use the grant to add a doctoral program in physical therapy. Manchester says the endowment will enable the university to move forward with hiring a director, faculty and staff for the new program, and pursue accreditation.

Indiana Tech plans to use the grant to create new academic programs in engineering technology fields and supply chain management.

It will also use part of the grant to establish a new regional center of excellence, the Northeast Indiana Center for Engineering. The Center will be built around three primary initiatives: A hub to match students with internships, projects and employment opportunities, expansion of Indiana Tech’s existing STEM camps for middle and high school students, and development of greater access, support and programming for women and minority students.

Lilly Endowment Inc. launched Charting the Future in 2019 as a multi-phase initiative to support colleges and universities throughout Indiana.
