U.S. Sen. Todd Young Preaches Patience As Votes Counted Across Country

U.S. Sen. Todd Young (R-Ind.) urges patience as states across the country continue counting votes in the 2020 election.

As updated vote counts show him trailing in key states, President Donald Trump Thursday evening falsely spread accusations of voter fraud while providing no evidence to back up his claims.

In a statement, Young said he trusts the electoral process.

“Every legally cast vote will be counted,” Young said. “The rule of law will be upheld, and we will accept the final result.”

U.S. Sen. Mike Braun’s (R-Ind.) office responded to questions about Trump’s remarks by pointing to a Braun tweet from before the president spoke. In it, the Hoosier senator said Trump is “right” to hold officials accountable to their laws. The tweet also says “fraudulent votes disenfranchise legal voters.”

The rate of absentee voter fraud over the last 20 years of elections is .00006 percent.
