The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo unveiled a plaque Wednesday honoring the legacy of former executive director Jim Anderson.
Anderson worked with the zoo for more than four decades and met his wife on the grounds. The plaque is on display in the Z.O.&O Railroad plaza, where Anderson and his wife first met.
In a statement released by the Zoo, board president Chuck Surak said "I have known Jim for many years and can tell you what a complete joy it has been to work alongside him as a board member.
"He has a habit of making the work with the zoo so fun and engaging that many members have been involved with the zoo for decades. In fact, this is my second time around as board president," Surak said.
The Zoo’s board of directors said it will remain a permanent fixture on the grounds. The board of directors wanted to honor Anderson’s legacy and the hard work he put in during his time with the Zoo.
