Fort Wayne's proposed Anchor Resource Center fails in council vote

The 5-3 vote by Fort Wayne's City Council came after weeks of Mayor Sharon Tucker's attempts to address issues raised by the Republicans on the council. They voted no anyway.

City of Fort Wayne hosts public hearing on proposed homeless resource center, majority of comments in favor

Held at the request of the Republicans on city council, Monday evening's hearing featured an opportunity for residents to learn more about the proposed Anchor Resource Center and why 333 E. Washington Boulevard was chosen. Those in attendance also had the opportunity to ask questions and offer their opinion.

The proposed location for the Anchor Resource Center puts it across the street from the Rescue Mission and near both Brightpoint and Matthew 25. Opponents of the project say it also puts it too close to St. Paul Lutheran School and the YMCA.
