Even though Fort Wayne City Council canceled the contract, the police department wants to find a way to keep using the cameras they say are a valuable tool to solve crimes. Mayor Sharon Tucker says "not so fast."

Held at the request of the Republicans on city council, Monday evening's hearing featured an opportunity for residents to learn more about the proposed Anchor Resource Center and why 333 E. Washington Boulevard was chosen. Those in attendance also had the opportunity to ask questions and offer their opinion.

The event will be held next week at the Grand Wayne Center. The Republicans on Fort Wayne's City Council refuse to move forward with discussion on the project until a formal public forum is held.

The Anchor Resource Center has become a point of contention between City Hall and City Council, even dividing many in the city on what the best approach to homelessness in Fort Wayne is.

The heatmapping program helped identify the hottest spots in the city.

The Saturday event is open to the public, and will feature a time for comment. Mayor Sharon Tucker hopes to ease the current fears in the community.
